I should be in bed by now.
My favorite postcard at postsecret.blogspot.com this week reads 'men with hairy backs make me nervous'.
Saturday night I played piano at a private party in Markham. 50 francophones. French is a sexy language. I wish Cece had been there to translate the overhead conversations – then again, maybe they were really really mundane and i'm better off thinking that they were all full of intrigue. The party was for Claude, who is French and lives in markham. Claude's third book was just published. Mystery novels, en francais. The client wanted more jazz – my mix is about 50/50 jazz to classical… it was tough to come up with 3 hours straight jazz.
This afternoon I did a 50th anniversary party with my brother. Old couples are really cute. One of the few things worth looking forward to for being in your 70's. Nice folks. The woman was concerned about volume and kept asking us to be softer, but it wasn't a problem once the room filled up. My brother was nice for a change. Good gig overall.
Cecilia's family came over and met my family, after almost a year and a month. It went well – everyone got along. I miss my downtown life alot. And my school friends. And school. I feel disconnected from some of the friends in Markham. Part of it is not being in Jim Smith Band, which kept me in the loop with all those people. Maybe it's all in my head, but I feel like a spectator at gatherings with that group, and I'm paranoid that they're making lots of fun plans, and they only remember to call me a small percent of the time.
BAH!
Sorry about that bit of blogwhine – I think i keep it to a minimum on this site, generally.
And to finish this puppy off: I moved all my games and all of my video files onto DVDs (probably about 30 in total) so they don't take up space, and so i can transport my movie collection without my computer or external needed. Watched groundhog day with Cece last night. I'm SHOCKED that she hadn't seen it before. I love it. It's so cheeseball but so great.
For a funny read go to Roop's blog 'http://equileus.blogspot.com/' and read the comments on the June 22nd post. It'll make you laugh. If you don't know him, just picture a scruffy brown guy sitting at his computer getting angrier and angrier, liberally add tics, punching things on his desk and expletives. Hope that helps set up the scene for you.

To quote Han Solo…
“Hey, who’re you callin’ scruffy?”
I think the image people are going to get is that im so sort of overweight, socially inept, unshaven, balding net-cafe dwelling sociopath.
I’m really not. To tell you the truth, though, folks, I am angry. He’s got that pegged. Oh, and I do punch things. And swear a lot. A lot.
…
.A LOT.
